A retreat with purpose

Your voice matters.
So does your wellbeing.

At Marketing With Love Digital, our work centres on helping academics and other professionals amplify their voices, clarify their niche and be recognised and paid fairly for the expertise they bring.

INFOCATION brings that spirit into a different setting: a chance to step back from constant demands, spend time with thoughtful people and reconnect with the ideas and communities that give your life meaning.

Join us from anywhere

A worldwide welcome for curious minds.

Black scholarship and cultural expression are at the heart of the experience, where curiosity, openness and respect for the people and places we encounter are part of the journey. Whether you are travelling from the USA, the UK, elsewhere in Africa, Europe, the Caribbean or another part of the world, you can be part of this shared journey.

Your host

Professor William
‘Lez’ Henry (PhD)

At the heart of INFOCATION is Professor William ‘Lez’ Henry, bringing together conversations on Black history, music, culture and martial arts.

Expect lively reasonings, shared learning and moments of edutainment, an invitation to ask questions, contribute your perspective and enjoy unique knowledge exchanges.

Knowledge. Culture. Connection.

Enjoy a space to share ideas, listen to others and partake in thoughtful reasoning, because;

“Knowledge gives us the power to liberate or enslave.”— Professor William ‘Lez’ Henry

Getting ready for your journey

Help us welcome you well.

  • Book flights thoughtfully.

Flights are arranged and paid for by guests. Wait for written retreat and place confirmation, then book early where possible after checking the agreed arrival and departure arrangements. We cannot guarantee airfares or availability.

  • Arrange suitable insurance.

Arrange cover promptly after booking. Check medical treatment, evacuation and repatriation, cancellation, pre-existing conditions and your chosen activities. Optional Senegal tours and martial arts may need a specific cover check.

  • Tell us what you need.

Raise dietary needs, allergies, accessibility requirements or relevant health needs early. We will check arrangements with providers. We need only relevant information, not your full medical history; ask us to arrange a private discussion.

Passport, visa, transit and vaccination-certificate requirements depend on your nationality, route and travel history. Check official requirements early and again before travel, including Senegal if you choose an optional tour. Seek individual travel-health advice well before departure.

Your questions, answered

Frequently asked questions.

Where and when is INFOCATION 2027?
At Royal Sankofa Estate in The Gambia, from 30 April to 10 May 2027, including ten nights’ accommodation.
Can I join from the USA or another country?
Yes. We welcome enquiries from around the world. You arrange your own flights and check the travel requirements for your passport, nationality and route. Please coordinate your arrival with the confirmed transfer arrangements.
Have you done Infocation before?
Yes. In 2008 and 2010 to Egypt
What is included, and what is excluded?

Ten nights’ accommodation, all meals at Royal Sankofa Estate, airport transfers within the confirmed arrangements and the listed included experiences.

Flights, separately booked optional tours, personal purchases and Coco Ocean treatments, meals and refreshments are not included.

Does the Coco Ocean visit include spa treatments?
No. The visit gives you time in a beachfront setting. Treatments, meals and refreshments there are paid separately if you choose them.
Can I travel alone and book a shared room?
You are welcome to enquire as a solo traveller. Contact us before selecting a shared room so we can confirm an agreed roommate arrangement. A roommate or shared rate is not guaranteed without confirmation. Single occupancy costs £2,199 in total per person, subject to availability.
How much is the deposit, and when is the balance due?
The deposit is £250 per person, due by 18 December 2026. It counts towards your total price. The remaining balance is due by 14 March 2027: £1,449 per person for sharing, or £1,949 for single occupancy. Contact us about an agreed payment plan or paying in full.
Is the deposit refundable if I cancel?
The retreat is advertised with a non-refundable deposit, but that description does not remove your legal rights. Cancellation charges, including any retention of the deposit, must follow the booking terms and be fair and justifiable where required by applicable law. Contact us promptly if your plans change; we will explain any charge and refund due.
What if I miss a payment?
Contact us as soon as you anticipate difficulty. We will discuss the position and any available options. An overdue payment may put your booking at risk under the agreed terms; do not assume an extension unless it is confirmed in writing.
How can I pay from overseas?
We will provide the available bank-transfer instructions and secure card checkout details. Prices are in GBP. Check your provider’s exchange rate and any independently imposed international transaction charges before paying, and include your booking reference.
When should I book my flights?
Wait for written confirmation that the retreat is going ahead and your place is confirmed. Then book early where possible after checking the agreed arrival and departure arrangements. Flights are independent bookings and are not included in the retreat price.
What travel insurance do I need?
Choose cover for your full journey, including medical treatment, evacuation and repatriation, and cancellation of committed costs. Disclose pre-existing conditions and other information your insurer requires. Check specifically for martial arts and optional Senegal or wildlife activities. Cover varies by policy; arrange it promptly rather than just before departure.
Do I need visas or vaccination certificates?
Requirements depend on nationality, passport, route and travel history. Check official destination and transit rules, and seek travel-health advice early. Optional Senegal travel requires a separate check, including re-entry to The Gambia. Advice for British travellers may not apply to you.
Can you support dietary or accessibility needs?
Please tell us early so we can check with providers and confirm what can be arranged. Do not assume a particular adjustment or an allergen-free environment is guaranteed before confirmation. If a facility or powered medical equipment is essential, discuss suitability before booking.
Do I need to share my full medical history?
No. We need only information relevant to safe participation or agreed support. Your insurer or clinician may require separate information. Please arrange a private discussion rather than sending full medical records by ordinary email or entering sensitive details in a marketing form.
Are martial arts sessions compulsory?
No. You can choose whether to take part. Discuss injuries, health concerns or adaptations with the instructor before joining, follow safety guidance and check your intended participation with your insurer.
What does an off-grid resort mean for my stay?
Ask us to confirm facilities important to you, such as reliable connectivity, powered equipment, cooling or mobility access. We do not promise uninterrupted power or Wi-Fi.
What happens if the programme changes or the retreat is cancelled?
We will communicate important changes promptly and explain the options and refund rights that apply. Some timings may change, but the booking terms cannot remove applicable legal rights. Independently booked flights and other costs may require separate discussions with your provider or insurer.
Where can I read the booking terms?
Request the full booking terms at [email protected]. Please read them and the cancellation policy before making any payment. We are happy to answer your questions.
